To make the most of your Engage-GivePulse integration, we recommend the following:
- Coordinate Service Activities through GivePulse: GivePulse acts as your system of record for all external engagement work, as well as your CRM for relationships with affiliates and community partners. To maintain this system of record, all external service should be posted in and coordinated through GivePulse.
- Students add hours and submit activities through GivePulse: Using the Submit a Service Opportunity and Add Impact buttons on the Service Tab, students will be automatically redirected to GivePulse, where they will maintain your system of record for engagement. Encourage students to add all hours this way to GivePulse.
- Service Hours Module in Engage: While Engage has a Service Hours module, we recommend that you turn this module off in Engage. Instead, students should be encouraged to add hours through GivePulse via the Add Impact button on the Service Tab. Another option might be to clearly distinguish between Engage hours (within your institution’s network) and external engagement hours (submitted through GivePulse to maintain affiliate records); however, this might require additional training for students.
- Service Theme in Engage: With GivePulse, you automatically maintain a Service Tab where students can find opportunities to get involved in their community. Encourage service submissions through GivePulse to populate them through the Service tab. If a user instead selects the Service Theme for an Event within Engage, you are able to review these prior to approval and directly encourage them to utilize GivePulse rather than approving the submission. Service opportunities can be submitted through GivePulse by clicking Submit a Service Opportunity on the Engage service tab.
- News Articles and Documents: Consider posting a news article in Engage about your service opportunities. In addition to news articles, you can add documents such as guides, flowcharts, liability waivers and other forms. GivePulse has provided a few options for your use or consideration. For example, we have created this student guide that can be added as a document or news article to teach students how to add their impacts.
- Use Campus Links and Banners on Engage Homepage to link to GivePulse: Use banners, cover photos, and the messaging system to encourage students to utilize GivePulse to search for opportunities and add impacts. Make sure that even when students are not on the service page, they can easily find their way to adding hours and maintaining your database.
