Sunsetting of Recurring and Random Date Events
Effective September 1st, 2024, we will be discontinuing the standalone Recurring and Random Date Events options in Classic View. We understand that many of you rely on this functionality, so we want to ensure a smooth transition and provide details on what to expect.
Integration into Shift Events
At present, administrators can create functionally equivalent events using either shifts (including repeating shifts) or random/recurring dates. This dual approach leads to user confusion and necessitates supporting two versions of the same functionality. To streamline event creation and management, and to reduce support costs, we have decided to phase out random/recurring events. Going forward, we will direct administrators to use shift-based events exclusively.
Key Points to Note:
- Transition Period: The standalone Recurring Events creation option in Classic View will be available until August 31st.
- Functionality: Events with shifts include options for creating repeating shifts, making it just as easy to manage as recurring events.
- Data Migration: In order to ensure that data integrity is preserved, recurring events that were created in Classic View will be migrated into the New View format where you will continue to be able to edit or duplicate events.
- Support and Resources: We will provide resources and support to help you adapt to the new system. FAQs will be available on our help center starting August 20th.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we make these improvements. This support article will be updated with more information and resources for navigating this transition shortly.

Frequently Asked Questions ✏
Q: How do I use shifts to create a recurring event?
- A: In Classic View, a recurring event can be created by using shifts. Users are recommended to select the single-day and the shifts option.
Q: How do I use shifts to create a recurring event that requires the user to register for all instances?
- A: In the Registration settings, choose the “Must Register for All” option. And, the name of the shift series is used to identify the related shift occurrences.
Q: I set the registration setting that they “Must Register for All”, but the registrations are not automatically selecting all of the shifts.
- A: The shifts must all have the same name. If you are adding additional shifts to your series, be sure to name those shifts exactly the same.
Q: I am unable to create a new recurring shift event. What are my options?
- A: Non-subscription accounts will not be able to create new recurring shift events in Classic. But, they will still be able to edit the events that have been migrated. And, New View does allow them to create multiple day shift tracks.
Q: Why does the shift name show a time that is different from the one in the description?
- A: Users see the date and time of events relative to their own time zones. An event or shift title is set as a name and does not change based on time zones.
Q: Why does the shift have the same name as the event?
- A: Migrated events that have shifts without a name will assign those shifts with the event name.
Q: Why do the action buttons for the event and the shift show different options such as one says Full even when it’s not full and the other says Register?
- A: This is a known issue that occurs when that specific shift is in progress.
Q: Why are the number of registrants on Classic View look off when viewing the event page?
- A: This is a known issue that will be resolved. The New View registrant counts are correct.
