As an admin, you can cancel, close, unpublish, or delete an event. You can find that when you open the Event Dashboard and see options on the bottom or in Manage Event in the drop down action options.

Terms Defined
Although similar, each of these terms serves a different purpose when managing events:
-
Cancel: If an event is no longer happening, you can cancel the event to formally inform registrants of the event's cancellation. Note: Cancelling an event will send an email to all registrants for the event.
-
Close: Once an event has ended, an event can be closed. This will prevent any users from registering or adding impacts in the future. Everything will be saved, but no new data can be inputted.
-
Unpublish: A published event can be unpublished if it needs to be edited before making public again. Note: This setting is only an option if the event has no activity (registrations or impacts).
-
Delete: Only if an event has no or zero registrants, it can be deleted. This removes the event from your network.
Note: We recommend closing your events instead of deleting them. If you wish to delete them and not preserve the data, please write to support@givepulse.com and provide the event URL.
How to Cancel, Close, Unpublish or Delete an Event from the Event Dashboard
Navigate to the Event Dashboard specifically and there are menu options to CLOSE an event. All of these settings will be located at the bottom of the Left Event Dashboard Menu.
How to Cancel, Unpublish, or Delete an Event from the Manage Events Grid
Events can also be managed from the Events > Manage Events grid. Navigate to the event you want to toggle, then click on its respective Actions dropdown button.
How do I change the event frequency type?
An admin can modify the event type and frequency even when the event is unpublished. During event creation, you can switch between single, multiple, or ongoing event types before finalizing and publishing it. However, once an event is published and has activity (registrations and impacts), any changes to its type or frequency are no longer possible.
If your event is unpublished, you can change the event frequency type from Single to Multiple or vice versa.
If your event is published and has ZERO activity, such as no registrations, you can then UNPUBLISH the event and update the event frequency.
Event Frequency: Define your event frequency (how often?)
-
- Single/One-Time - one-day event with a start and end time in one day.
- Multiple Dates/Shifts - for specific dates, you can create shifts, specific dates and/or time frames/slots/shifts
- Ongoing/Open - if there are no defined times, this is for general events (think monthly or annually)
