Enabling subgroup submissions allows groups to include their end users in network creation.
If you are a group administrator wanting to enable subgroup submissions, see our Subgroup Submissions article for more information.
How to Submit a Subgroup
If the group has enabled subgroup submission, End Users can suggest new subgroups to be included in the network. End Users can submit subgroups for approval either by using the submission box on the public page of the Parent Group, or via a shareable link that can be sent by an admin of the Parent Group. After an end user submits a subgroup for review, an administrator of the Parent Group must approve or deny the request. The end user will be notified when the submission is either approved or denied.
Follow below for the process of submitting a subgroup from the public submission box.
- From your parent group's page, click the Submit Group button on the right side of the screen.
- To create a new subgroup, click Submit a brand new group here.
- Fill in the required information, including Name, Type, Administrator, Description, and Address.
- In order to maximize visibility when filling out the description, make sure to keep the description short and avoid outside links.
Click Next → at the bottom right of the screen.
Fill out the next screens with further details about the subgroup. Make sure to click Next → when you're finished filling out the page.
When you're finished filling out the subgroup information, click Save Group at the bottom of the page to submit your subgroup proposal.
The process will look the same if submitting via a private shareable link, except the creation page will be accessed by clicking a link rather than the public submission box.
Subgroup Approval
Clicking Save Group in the creation screen will take the user to the dashboard for the proposed subgroup. There will be a banner on the screen that reads “Your group has been created and submitted for approval.” If the end user has GivePulse notifications enabled, they will be notified by email when their submission is approved or denied.
If the subgroup is approved, the submitter will be automatically made an administrator of the subgroup. This will allow the end user to edit details of the subgroup, as well as manage things like events and impacts, but they will not have administrative access to the parent group.
Administrators of the parent group can remove the end user's administrative access to the subgroup, but the end user cannot remove administrative access to the subgroup from administrators of the parent group.
