GivePulse serves as a great asynchronous tool for eService-Learning courses. Listed below are GivePulse features that can be applied to any form of E-SL.
Surveys
Surveys on GivePulse can be used to gather feedback and facilitate understanding for E-SL.
- Pre and post-assessment for students: To track student progress and understanding of course objectives, you can create a survey and share it with students at different points throughout the semester
- Agreements or MOUs between students/faculty/community partners: Communication and understanding goals are an important part of eService-Learning programs. You can list goals or objectives for all parties to agree to through surveys. If you’d like to set up a routing process between student, community partner, and faculty, we recommend using Surveys with Reviewers.
Project-Based Events
For Hybrid Type II and Extreme E-SL, Project-Based Events can help keep all stakeholders on track for completing service projects. This feature enables users to establish milestones and a timeline for completing each step. This piece can be instrumental in developing course design, plan of action, and/or outline for E-SL. Not only does this provide an online space for students and professors to track progress, but you can also connect with the community partner here.
Discussion Boards
If you’re looking for students to collaborate, ask questions, and provide feedback, you can utilize wall posts in GivePulse. Both wall posts and threaded discussion boards are a collaborative space for students to interact. This is key to addressing the communication component of E-SL
Connecting with Community Partners
GivePulse allows you to connect your course with community partners in your area.
- Affiliation: You can affiliate with partners to share their events with you directly. If the partner is collaborating with your students to build a specific project, you can allow them to manage any event that you create within your course.
Reflections
Reflections are a key piece of any SL course. GivePulse tracks and gathers reflections for all students. As an administrator, you can input your custom reflection questions.
Integrate your GivePulse Course with your LMS Course
The GivePulse platform integrates with any Learning Management System (LMS) through its very own Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI). You can embed the GivePulse LTI into assignments and courses to organize service-learning and all community engagement from a single location.
The GivePulse LTI provides an embeddable service-learning experience for a course or assignment. This allows staff and faculty to manage the service-learning course and enables students to access all resources, registration links, and tracking tools within the LMS. Community partners can also access and verify outputs and engage in discussions with the students. Click here to learn more about the GivePulse LTI app. Contact your academic technology team or support@givepulse.com to assist further with this integration.
